In the realm of home improvement, painting jobs are among the most common. At Pro Quality Painters, we can help! With our commitment to great customer service and amazing value for money, we are your number one choice for any painting job in the area.

1) Define the Scope of Work

The scope of work should be as specific as possible and should include the painting contractor’s company name and contact information. A good scope of work will also list the type of paint that is going to be used, the color(s), any other materials needed (i.e., primer), the surface type(s) on which you plan on painting (i.e., interior walls vs exterior siding). The next step is to measure the dimensions of each room and create an accurate estimate. All necessary dimensions should be taken by either yourself or someone who has worked with this paint job before  then go back through and add up your expenses

2) Surface Preparation

Surface Preparation is the first and most important step of any painting job. Without it, the paint will not adhere correctly and the painting could look like a patchwork of different colors. This can be avoided by following these steps:

-Remove items that are on the wall or surface that you do not want painted. This includes wallpaper or anything with tape or glue on it.

-Sandpaper any rough surfaces. -Use a chemical paint stripper if there are heavy layers of old paint or varnish.

-Wipe down the area with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust particles.

-Patch up holes and cracks if needed before continuing on to the next step.

3) Calculate Square Footage

1. Measure the length and width of the area that needs to be painted.

2. Determine the square footage by multiplying these two numbers together.

3. Next, divide this number by 9 to get an estimate of how many gallons of paint will be needed for your job (each gallon covers approximately 400 square feet).

4. Now you’ll need to multiply this answer by 2 since you’ll need 2 coats of paint for your surface (400 x 2 = 800). 5. Multiply this result by the cost per gallon for the type of paint you are using to determine your total cost (800 x $10 per gallon = $8,000). 6. Add any additional materials or equipment costs into your equation  . For example: rollers ($1), brushes ($2), or drop cloths ($2) may add up depending on what you need to purchase in addition to your paint!

4) Determine Number of Coats

One of the most important aspects of estimating a painting job is figuring out how many coats of paint will be needed. The number of coats that you need will depend on the condition and type of paint that was applied before your project. If you are painting over an existing color then it will take less coats than if you are painting over another type of surface such as drywall or plaster board. One way to figure out how many coats you need is by using what’s called a test strip. A test strip consists of one inch by two feet piece of wallboard covered with two or three thin coats of paint. After letting this dry for 24 hours, look at the sheen on the paint.

5) Paint Quality

The quality of the paint you choose will make all the difference when it comes to the longevity of your color. It’s important for your painting contractor to know what type of paint you want so that they can give you an accurate estimate. The most popular paint types are:

– Latex Paint – Oil-based Paint – Acrylic Paint – Water-based Paint The best way to decide which paint is right for you is by determining how often you plan on painting the area and whether or not pets and/or children will be living there. For example, latex paints are perfect if you plan on repainting regularly since they require fewer coats. If pets or children will be living there, then water-based paints might be a better option since they’re more pet and child friendly than oil-based paints which tend to produce fumes and have longer dry times.
