What you can do, however, is invest in proper laundry storage and hire each member of the household to help collect and put away anything dirty.

Your bathroom mirror and cabinet are used so frequently and yet never get the attention that a kitchen cabinet gets. The end result is that closet shelves get a thin layer of talk or dust and mirrors get kind of clean, but it’s never perfect. Now it’s time to clean those items.

Empty the cabinet and make sure the shelves are properly inserted into the frame. Shelves often become loose. Check your bathroom cabinet door(s) and make sure they work properly. Remove dust in the bathroom cabinet and then replenish the shelves. Stick to the rules! Reset only what you’ve used in the last month. Therefore, discard any bathroom products that have not been used. There’s always an unwanted present lurking behind it that can be wrapped up and given to an aunt for a birthday. The thing is, you benefit from ample space in your freshly cleaned bathroom cabinet.

One of the most important aspects of your bathroom is your mirrors. People struggle without them and to be honest your bathroom wouldn’t be the same without them. Your bathroom mirror helps add the centerpiece of your day. Now there are so many guides on how to clean mirrors, what chemicals to use, do I use vinegar? Rolled up newspaper etc. The fact is you have a glass surface which needs to be shiny and smear free. Take this into account and clean your mirror as you feel comfortable. I always use a hot water mixture and dry with toilet paper until the mirror is smudge free and my beautiful reflection is reflecting back at me. But you will have your own technique. As we clean your bathroom in the spring, you need to take into account that you will be using hot water for later tasks, so you may need to come back and put the finishing touches on your bathroom mirror(s).

Now it’s time to attack the bathroom suite. It doesn’t matter what color your bathroom is, dirt and dust accumulate in the same places and the cleaning regime is the same. Remove any toys or bottled bathroom products from the tub side and start again at the top and work your way down. Clean ledges and anywhere dirt can collect with hot water and a simple sponge. If you have tile over your bathtub, use an old toothbrush to clean the grout. If your grout is old and stained, gently use bleach to bring it back to life. Once the bathroom is clean, pay attention to the faucets and shower head. Here, too, one looks for traces of deposits that may have accumulated over time. Use your old toothbrush to clean the connection between the faucets and the bathtub, then rinse it all off. Turn your attention to the bath toys and products that you previously grabbed from the side of the bathtub.

The trusty rubber ducky everyone loves, but even your rubber ducky gets dirty. The downside with bath toys like this is that they draw water in, which stagnates. This builds up over time and, depending on the water type, can encourage mold growth. This really isn’t nice to have in your bathroom, so it’s time to ditch those bath toys. Using a bucket and a mild water/bleach solution, squeeze the toy until all of the flaky black mildew is out of the hole. There’s another role for your trusty old toothbrush too; This can help remove stubborn mold that has built up around the edges of the bath toy.
