Hull Win Entertaining Clash at Rotherham United

Hull City won an entertaining clash at Rotherham United. Nick Barmby scored two goals for the Tigers. It was a very well-played match and Andy Dawson’s men look very solid. They defend well and attack as a unit. It was a good start to the season for Hull and they could build on their midweek victory.

Hull City beat Rotherham United 4-2

Rotherham’s two recent wins came to an end as Hull City romped to victory at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. Daniel Barlaser and Georgie Kelly scored for the hosts and sub Ozan Tufan also landed a brace. The home side fielded a new-look strike force in the final third and were able to take the points despite conceding four goals.

The hosts were able to start brightly in the second half, and Christie forced Johansson into several saves with a low right-footed strike. The goal put Hull on the front foot and knocked Rotherham off their stride. Shortly after, Craig Longman’s low cross was misjudged by Peltier, and Docherty raced through the home defence to head in a low, right-footed shot. After the break, Taylor introduced four changes in an attempt to turn the game around.

Nick Barmby scores for Hull

Hull signed former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Nick Barmby from Middlesbrough on a free transfer. The striker has a glittering career in English football and has featured in over twenty internationals. He was also an influential player for Hull City’s rise from League One to the Premier League. Despite playing only 20 league matches in 2009/10, Barmby has been a key player in the Tigers’ rise to the top level.

Nick Barmby is a Hull City legend. His first senior goal came against AFC Bournemouth in his debut season. After retiring from professional football, Barmby became the first team coach and manager of Scunthorpe United. He scored nine goals and assisted five in 39 appearances. Barmby has the ability to score spectacular goals. His two goals in this match proved that.

Andy Dawson’s side are a unit

Hull City interim head coach Andy Dawson reflects on a good win over Blackpool, provides injury updates and looks ahead to the Rotherham match. The Tigers were well organised and showed a strong work ethic against the Millers.

Hull started brightly and looked sharp. Jacob Greaves scrambled home the opener in the 44th minute. The visitors were level shortly after when Dan Barlaser curled a low effort against the post. Hull restored their lead just after the hour mark, when Cyrus Christie wriggled through down the right side before smashing low past Viktor Johansson’s near post.

They defend and attack

Hull Ionians have won the National Two North match against Rotherham Titans. Sam Wilson and Lewis Minikin scored in the first half, before Titans’ Sam Veall snatched the lead back. The Ionians hit back shortly after, and Lewis Minikin added a penalty try to make it 14-7. A further try for Hull came when Mike Adlard was held back as he galloped towards the line. Harry Dunne scored the final try with a late conversion.

Hull have won back-to-back matches under Andy Dawson, and this weekend they were looking for an away win. The Tigers’ last away win was at Blackpool, and their latest victory will boost their confidence.

Coventry City remain bottom of the table

After a disappointing start to the season, Coventry City rescheduled their game against Rotherham United for Saturday afternoon. This was due to a problem with the pitch at the CBS Arena, which was used during the Commonwealth Games. It was a pity, as the two teams had been due to meet at the start of the season. Unfortunately, the ground was not suitable for football and the match was cancelled. Coventry City have now played three consecutive away games, having won one against Preston in the previous match.

Despite the win, Coventry remain bottom of the table. The fact is, they have only won one of their last 10 games. Heckingbottom has said that the pitch is one of the reasons for their false position.
