Master of Science in Applied Analytics

You’ll use your analytical skills to address complex organizational challenges. You’ll learn to recognize opportunities to impact strategic direction and implement change based on data-driven decisions.

In this online graduate analytics program, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge to use advanced tools and techniques of data analytics to solve real-world problems for your organization. Your learning will encompass the full lifecycle of data analytics, from identifying where it is needed, obtaining and manipulating the relevant information, interpreting and building useful predictive or explanatory models and communicating the insight to multiple audiences.

The Master of Science in Applied Analytics at Loras College is offered in a convenient online format, with courses held one night a week so you can balance your work and family commitments while studying. The program can be completed in one year or two years (Fall start) or 15 months (Spring start). This STEM designated degree prepares business professionals with the practical data and leadership skills needed to thrive in the new era of Big Data.

Master of Science in Applied Finance

The Master of Science in Applied Finance provides students with the analytical graduate training needed to prepare for a variety of career options. It offers a strong mix of economics, finance and data analytics, with coursework designed to be practical and relevant for careers in commercial or investment banking, quantitative research, financial risk management, venture capital and private equity, consulting and more.

The curriculum emphasizes rigorous mathematical modeling and analysis to help you excel in your chosen career field. The program also includes a mandatory Action Learning experience, which provides you with an opportunity to put your skills into practice. Through Proseminars and Fin-Lab, you’ll work alongside industry practitioners to research a finance-related challenge at host companies. This course of study qualifies as a STEM program, allowing you to apply your degree toward core MBA requirements, completing both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just five years.

Master of Science in Applied Economics

The Master of Science in Applied Economics (MSAE) prepares students to solve real-world business problems using the advanced tools of applied economic theory, data analysis and econometrics. Graduates are positioned for careers in solutions-oriented environments including financial management, consulting, governmental administration and international organizations.

The curriculum is structured around the research process from a disciplined and rigorous perspective, starting with learning how to identify a meaningful and worthwhile question that can be addressed with the theoretical tools of micro- or macroeconomics and the quantitative tools of data analysis and econometrics. Students also learn to review existing literature on a topic to understand what experts in the field already know about it in order to contribute something new.

From there, you can customize your studies with a wide selection of electives. You can choose from a curated list of focus areas or pursue your own research project as an 11th program course, earning you three additional credits at no additional cost.
