Step 1:

For this guide on how to draw a red fox, we’ll start with the outline of the fox’s head. First, use small rounded lines for the ears and inner ear sections. Next, we will use more jagged pointed lines for the sides of the face. These sharp lines give the red fox’s head a friendly, furry look. You are then ready to move on to the second step of the guide!

Step 2:

In this second step of your red fox drawing, you will start with the body and legs of the red fox. We will use a similar sharp line for the back of the fox to make it nice and strong again. You can add another of these lines inside the body to add more furry detail to it. Then you can start drawing the first legs. These legs will have the same fuzzy line quality again and get a little thinner as they go down. Don’t worry about the feet, because we’ll draw them soon.

Step 3:

We mentioned how we would draw the feet in the last step of this guide on how to draw a red fox, and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing in this step! The feet should be easy to draw because you must use small curved lines for the little feet at the base of the legs. Once you’ve drawn those feet, we’ll focus on the fox’s body.

We’ll draw more spiky details inside the body, and then you can use more fur lines to outline the body. When you have replicated those body parts in our reference image, we can complete the outline in the next step.

Step 4:

Before we get to the final details of your red fox drawing, we’ll add the rest of the outline first. You will see in our image that the legs will have a softer outline and be at a different angle than the front legs. It wouldn’t be a fox without the big bushy tail, and you can style that with more of those sharp fur lines. So it’s time for those final details!
