INTRODUCTION

Perched at an altitude of 14,245 feet above sea level, the spectacular Indrahar Pass is situated on the border between the breathtaking Kangra and Chamba districts. Though it is short, this trek is considered a bit challenging as the trekking trail consists of many steep climbs and steep climbs. This is one of the most attractive treks in Himachal.

Owing to the spectacular view of the mighty Dhauladhar, the lush green valleys, and exotic flora and fauna will amaze you. The path passes through the calm crystal blue waters of Mankiyani and Kareri Lake. Mostly passing through a steep climb that passes through the lush green landscape of the Dhauladhar Range, this challenging yet fascinating trek takes around 4 days to complete.

THE TREK

This spectacular trek to Indrahar Pass begins via one of the famous trekking routes of the Himachal Pradesh region. It takes about 5-6 hours of trek to reach Triund from McLeodganj. Then the trek will take you to the breathtaking Lahesh Caves which are situated at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level. It is advisable to cross the cave during the day as by noon, the terrain, as well as the weather, can put you at risk. Continuing on this trail, you will be taken through Snowline Café to the area Gott.

The most exciting part of the trek is the most awaited Indrahar Pass. You will be taken through the rough terrains from the Lahesh Caves to the dazzling and enchanting Indrahar Pass situated at 4,300 meters. Seeing the stunning panoramic views of the Dhauladhar Range and other Himalayan peaks from the Indrahar Pass is an utterly refreshing experience for a lifetime.

Things to know before embarking on this trek

Climatic conditions in the high-altitude areas fluctuate from the plains, so you should take enough time to get used to the high altitude. It is advisable to consult a physician before starting the trek. Basic medicines and a first aid kit are a must to carry during the trek. It is proposed to carry enough dry clothes and the right kind of footwear for the trek.

Consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicant is strictly prohibited during the trek. Throwing garbage in local sites or camps is also prohibited. If found so, passengers can be fined for dumping the garbage. Make sure you provide valid ID proof at the time of check-in. All activities will be done on a seasonal basis. Camping is very basic and luxuries are not to be expected. Keep luggage to a minimum; The more you carry, the more trouble you have. Children below 7 years of age are not allowed on this trek.

BEST TIME

By August the snow melts on the higher passes and the Kangra and Dhauladhar ranges are affected by heavy rains during the monsoon, but the weather is hot and sunny at the higher elevations. The temperature here ranges from 12-20 °C during the day, while it ranges from 2 to 6 °C at night. During September and October, climbers can face good weather with minimal snowfall. In October, the day temperature fluctuates between 12-18°C but starts to drop to 4°C in the evening (- 6)C.
